Use Your IRA to Support Pets

Donate during your lifetime or as part of an estate plan with your IRA to Colorado Pet Pantry. This is an incredibly generous way to support our mission while at the same time taking advantage of financially savvy ways to reduce your tax burden.

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $108,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA, instead of taking their required minimum distributions. As a result, donors may avoid being pushed into higher income tax brackets and prevent phaseouts of other tax deductions, though there are some other limitations. Read more here.

Speak to your IRA holder to find out how your gift can help pet families in your community find stability and comfort during their financial hardships.

Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) are a simple, flexible and tax-advantageous way to support your favorite charities. Because we are a 501(c)3 organization with the IRS, you are eligible to donate to Colorado Pet Pantry through your DAF.

What is a Donor Advised Fund?

A Donor Advised Fund is an investment account, managed by a charity, that exists for the sole purpose of acting as a one-stop-shop to support your favorite charities. You begin by making tax-deductible donations to your DAF. Next, while you decide which charities to support, your funds will potentially grow in size, making even more future money for charities. Once you decide who you’d like to support, you advise your charitable investment firm and they will issue donation grants to all the charities you have selected.

When you choose Colorado Pet Pantry as the recipient of your Donor Advised Funds, you are directly contributing to the wellbeing of pet families in your community.

Most Common DAF Companies:

1. Fidelity Charitable
2. National Philanthropic Trust (NPT)
3. Schwab Charitable (DAFGiving360)
4. Vanguard Charitable
